MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421014001 A) filed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Maharashtra, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'a portable fume extractor.'

Inventor(s) include Jagtap, Vivek Uttam.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a portable fume extractor 100 designed for use in the shipbuilding industry which efficiently removes the hazardous gases and fumes generated during various operations such as welding, cutting, and grinding. The portable fume extractor 100 includes an outer body 1 with an upper portion 1A and a lower portion 1B, an electric motor 2, a plurality of shock absorbers (3A,3B,3C,3D) are placed below the electric motor 2, a plurality of shock absorbers are supported by a rubber sheet 4, a plurality of wheels (5A,5B,5C,5D) are located at bottom of the outer body 1 with a plurality of wheel locking system (6A,6B,6C,6D), a plurality of magnetic arm (7A,7B,7C,7D), a plurality of centrifugal fans(9A,9B,9C) are placed in plurality of inlet hoses (8A,8B,8C), respectively. The portable fume extractor 100 optimizes portability, minimizes vibration and noise, and improves the effectiveness of fume extraction in shipyard environments."
