MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621008100 A) filed by Dr. Savita Borse; and Dr. Vinod V. Mohan, Nashik, Maharashtra, on Jan. 28, for 'a process for preparing a standardised argyreia nervosa leaf based food ingredient.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Savita Borse; and Dr. Vinod V. Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Process for Preparing a Standardised Argyreia nervosa Leaf Based Food Ingredient The present invention relates to a standardised Argyreia nervosa leaf based food ingredient and a controlled food processing method for preparing the same, wherein fresh Argyreia nervosa leaves are subjected to sequential washing, aqueous blanching at a temperature of 80 C to 95 C for a duration of 1 min to 4 min, rapid cooling to arrest thermal degradation, low temperature dehydration to reduce moisture content to not more than 10 % w/w, and milling with particle size standardisation to 150 micron to 500 micron to obtain a stable and free flowing particulate ingredient, the said process resulting in reduction of inherent bitterness and astringency, improvement in storage stability for at least 30 days under ambient conditions, and uniform dispersion of the processed ingredient when incorporated in an amount of 1 % to 3 % w/ w into food matrices including soups, batter based foods, cereal based flat foods, legume based fillings, and beverage type systems, thereby providing a reproducible and industry compatible food technology solution for incorporating Argyreia nervosa leaves into food products."
