MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025592 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research; and Meenakshi College Of Nursing, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 4, for 'a process of preparation of herbal ointment for psoriasis management.'

Inventor(s) include Mrs. Muthulakshmi V; Mrs. E. Bhuvaneshwari; and Dr. Kavitha.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process for preparing an herbal ointment composition for management of psoriasis, comprising the steps of: a. washing and drying fresh Cassia occidentalis Linn. (Kasmard) leaves and grinding into a fine paste to form Kasmard leaf paste; b. gently heating cold-pressed virgin coconut oil in a pan to form heated coconut oil; c. adding the Kasmard leaf paste to the heated coconut oil and stirring to form infused oil; d. straining the infused oil to remove leaf residue, thereby obtaining a clear Kasmard-infused coconut oil base; e. combining the clear Kasmard-infused coconut oil base with Aloe barbadensis Miller (Aloe vera) gel and Curcuma longa Linn. (Turmeric) powder in a clean vessel, and mixing to form a uniform ointment; f. cooling the uniform ointment to ambient temperature and storing in a sterilized glass jar under cool, dry conditions, thereby yielding a stable herbal ointment composition."
