MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085195 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 13, 2023, for 'a retractable shelf assembly in a refrigerator.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a retractable shelf (104) assembly (100) in a refrigerator. The assembly (100) includes a base shelf (102) and a retractable shelf (104) for receiving and sustaining loads inside the refrigerator, the base shelf (102) having a first section (106) and a second section (108). The retractable shelf (104) transitions between a folded position and a retracted position in the first section (106) of the base shelf (102). Further, the assembly (100) includes a plurality of kinematic links (110) coupling the retractable shelf (104) with the first section (106) of the base shelf (102). The plurality of kinematic links (110) facilitates in a vertical movement of the retractable shelf (104) and transitions the retractable shelf (104) between the folded position and the retracted position in the first section (106) of the base shelf (102) providing flexibility in storage inside the refrigerator."
