MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541004147 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 17, 2025, for 'a scientific ai based universal fire control system (fcs) for battlefield management.'
Inventor(s) include Rajesh Gopalapillai; Sivaprasad Gangadharan; and Girijesh Mathur.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a system (100) and a method (300) for controlling firing of an artillery gun. The method includes receiving (302) one or more input parameters inputted by a user through a graphical user interface and estimating (304) a reduced order model of a projectile including one or more aerodynamic coefficients of the projectile of the artillery gun. Further, the method includes optimizing (306), using one or more scientific machine learning models, values of the one or more aerodynamic coefficients. Furthermore, the method includes predicting (308), based on the optimized values of the one or more aerodynamic coefficients, one or more output parameters and a trajectory of the projectile using the one or more scientific machine learning models. Thereafter, the method includes controlling (310) firing of the artillery gun based on the one or more output parameters."
