MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025749 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 5, for 'a scissoring gait separation shoe with medial-lateral mechanical support for physiotherapy and gait rehabiliation.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a scissoring gait separation shoe comprising a footwear upper mounted on a split sole assembly having a medial foot support plate and a lateral foot support plate interconnected by a mechanical divider and resilient linkage elements. The structure permits controlled differential movement between medial and lateral regions of the foot, thereby guiding foot placement, reducing excessive adduction, and improving gait symmetry. The shoe operates without electronics and is intended for physiotherapy-based gait rehabilitation in individuals with neurological, musculoskeletal, or developmental gait abnormalities."
