MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010896 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Reserch & Development Organisation, New Delhi, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'a sealed-off multiple gap sheet electron beam source for sub-thz generation.'

Inventor(s) include Kumar, Niraj; Vishant; Abhishek, Anand; Dixit, Nimish; Mishra, Ajay; Khare, Sudhir; and Shriganesh, Prabhu.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a sealed-off version of multi-gap sheet electron beam source for generation of short pulse energetic electron beam to be used for various portable applications without the requirement of external magnetic field. The present invention focuses on development of a sealed-off multi-gap sheet electron beam source with cascaded brazed assembly of hollow cathode, ceramic insulators and floating anodes with cascaded brazed assembly of hollow cathode, ceramic insulators, floating anodes and a method of generating electron beam with current density more than 150 A/cm2 and maximum energy more than 30 keV. The inventiveness of the present invention enable realization of the novelty followed by a sealed-off version of sheet electron beam source designed with cascaded brazed assembly of hollow cathode, ceramic insulators, floating anodes and design of completed assembly with circular aperture on hollow cathode, ceramic disc and floating anode while sheet aperture on anode disc."
