Inventor(s) include Vivek Manjeri Veedu; Srikanth Shivalingaiah; and Dilip Chowdary.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seat belt system 100 for a passenger seat 102 in a vehicle includes a strap 104 to restrains movement of the user 108 in event of frontal crash; a retraction mechanism configured to allow pulling out of the strap 104 back when released; and a D-bracket 200 configured to direct the strap 104 and located on a movable arm 202. A Pyrotechnic device 208 is coupled to an inner end of a link 206, which is coupled to the D-bracket 200 through an outer end of the link 206, such that actuation of the Pyrotechnic device 208, in case of a frontal crash, results in the inner end of the link 206 moving vertically down, and the D-bracket 200 moving laterally closer to the user 108 to prevent slipping of the strap 104 from shoulder of a user."
