MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087850 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a seating system of a vehicle with a striker-latch mechanism.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seating system (400) of a vehicle with a striker-latch mechanism (100) is disclosed. The seating system includes at least one first seat (200), a second seat (300), a striker-latch mechanism (100), a transmitter (350), and a control unit (450). The striker-latch mechanism includes a striker (110), a rotary unit (120), a motor (140), and a latch (210). The striker is configured to be engaged with the latch in the extended position (110e) and disengaged from the latch in a retracted position (110r). The transmitter is configured to detect and transmit signals regarding position and angular displacement of the second backrest portion of the second seat, relative to the seating portion. The control unit is configured to actuate the motor to displace the striker between the extended position (110e) and the retracted position (110r), based on the signals received from the transmitter (350)."
