MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018736 A) filed by Dr. Jenitha A; Mrs. Tamilvani R; Mrs. Mohana C; Mrs. Shankavi K; Mr. Jesudas J; and Mrs. Kanimozhi S, Kolar, Karnataka, on Feb. 19, for 'a self-adaptive sensor-controlled automated retractable environmental protection system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Jenitha A; Mrs. Tamilvani R; Mrs. Mohana C; Mrs. Shankavi K; Mr. Jesudas J; and Mrs. Kanimozhi S.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Unpredictable climatic variations including sudden rainfall, excessive solar radiation, and high wind conditions create significant challenges for outdoor protective structures and exposed residential spaces. Studies indicate that short-duration rainfall events have increased by approximately 20-30% in several regions, while solar heat gain contributes up to 30-40% of indoor temperature rise, resulting in increased dependence on artificial cooling systems that may account for nearly 40-60% of household energy consumption in warm climates. Conventional manually operated awnings and protective coverings are unable to respond autonomously to such dynamic environmental changes, leading to property damage, structural wear, and increased maintenance costs. The present invention provides an automated retractable environmental protection system comprising an environmental sensing module, a programmable microcontroller unit, a motor driving module, and an electromechanical actuation mechanism coupled to a movable protective covering structure. The system continuously monitors climatic parameters including precipitation and solar intensity, and optionally wind velocity, and automatically actuates extension or retraction of the protective structure based on predefined threshold conditions. The invention ensures real-time environmental responsiveness, improved structural safety, reduced manual intervention, and enhanced energy efficiency, thereby providing a compact and scalable solution for residential and commercial applications."
