MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521060312 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on June 24, for 'a sensor device based on triboelectric nanogenerator.'

Inventor(s) include Tannu; Ghoti, Sakshi; Jaurker, Diksha; Palani, Iyamperumal Anand; and Joshi, Suhas S.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a sensor device (200) based on triboelectric nanogenerator. The sensor device includes an upper layer assembly comprising a first substrate layer (202), a first electrode layer (204), and a tribopositive layer (205). The sensor device includes a lower layer assembly, spaced apart and disposed oppositely from the upper layer assembly, comprising a tribonegative layer (210), a second electrode layer (212) and a second substrate layer (214). The sensor device further includes an encapsulation structure comprising a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface and the bottom surface are separated by a pair of side walls having a zig-zag pattern (206). The upper layer assembly is attached to an inner layer of the top surface and the lower layer assembly is attached to an inner layer of the bottom assembly such that the tribopositive layer of the upper layer assembly faces towards the tribonegative layer."
