MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421007214 A) filed by Hyundai Mobis Co. Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Feb. 2, 2024, for 'a sensorless brake force estimation in an electro-mechanical brake system and a method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Devara Meghanadh; and Yeggati Vara Prasanna Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure envisages electro-mechanical brake in a vehicle using a sensorless brake force estimation system . The system comprises: a pedal sensing unit coupled to the brake pedal, the pedal sensing unit generates brake signal on actuating the brake pedal; an electronic control unit (ECU)(20) in communication with the pedal sensing unit to receive the brake signal and is further processing the brake signal to generate corresponding force demand signal; current signal is generated by the ECU(20) in proportion to the force demand signal; a position sensing unit(35) senses the displacement of the ball screw(40) and is further generating corresponding position signal; and an optimization module in communication with the ECU(20), the optimization module is having a set of pretrained machine leaning model including a list of predefined position signal threshold value, predefined current signal threshold value and the respective predefined threshold brake force to estimate a brake force."
