MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621007710 A) filed by Pdpm Indian Institute Of Information Technology, Design And Manufacturing, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Jan. 27, for 'a smart hitch alignment system.'
Inventor(s) include Kumar, Amit; Singhal, Anmol; Kumar, Gyanendra; and Dr. Avinash Ravi Raja.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a smart hitch alignment system (100) for precise positional adjustment between a tractor and towed implements. The system (100) comprises a reverse single-acting hydraulic cylinder (102) configured to retract upon hydraulic fluid injection, generating a controlled pulling force that draws the tractor and trolley together until hitch holes align precisely. A hydraulic hose (104) transfers hydraulic fluid from the tractors existing hydraulic circuit to the hydraulic cylinder (102), eliminating the need for external pumps or separate actuation modules. Hooks and mounting points (106) provide secure, removable connection between the hydraulic cylinder (102), tractor, and trolley, enabling the system (100) to function as a portable auxiliary attachment. The system (100) employs guided mounting geometry and synchronized alignment interfaces for accurate hitch-hole matching under uneven terrain or lateral misalignment, facilitating safe, single-operator, repeatable coupling operations."
