The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a smart parking system (100) for efficiently managing vehicles in a parking facility. The system comprises an entry detection module (102) with infrared (IR) sensors to detect vehicle approach and generate dimension data, a camera module (104) to capture images including the number plate region, and an image preprocessing unit (106) implementing OpenCV-based techniques with dynamic lighting and weather compensation. A license plate recognition unit (108) extracts alphanumeric plate data and secondary vehicle attributes, which are validated by a validation module (110). A vehicle dimension analyser unit (112) verifies vehicle authenticity. The parking management module (114) assigns lanes, allocates slots based on vehicle dimensions, slot availability, and load-balancing policies, and prioritizes EV and two-wheeler slots. Payment is handled via a dynamic session-specific code generated by a payment token generator (116) and verified through a payment gateway interface (118). Gate actuator (120) control, fraud detection (122), exit recognition, and cloud storage (124) ensure secure, real-time, and automated parking operations."
