MUMBAI, India, April 4 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202424071842 A) filed by Dr. Vishwanath Karad Mit World Peace University, Pune, Maharashtra, on Sept. 23, 2024, for 'a soft underwater multiarmed robotic gripper.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention related to a soft underwater multiarmed robotic gripper as the plurality of arms are made up of flexible material. The plurality of arms has longitudinal grooves for insertion of the string and lateral grooves to constrain the curved movement. The flexible material is Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). The actuation of the soft arms is achieved by pulling the strings towards the base disc side of the arms using the stepper motor. The lateral grooves in the arms facilitate the curved movement of the arms with a restriction preventing rolling and wrapping of."
