MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521133843 A) filed by Prashant Shrikrishna Raut; Dr. P. M. Ardhapurkar; Kailas Ramdas Dudhe; and Gayatri Prashant Raut, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a solar flat plate collector using pillow plate as absorbing surface.'
Inventor(s) include Prashant Shrikrishna Raut; Dr. P. M. Ardhapurkar; Kailas Ramdas Dudhe; and Gayatri Prashant Raut.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A solar flat plate collector (103) for collecting solar energy in the form of heated air or heated water. The collector comprises a transparent glazing cover (108), a back and edge thermal insulation layer (114), and is characterised by a twin-sheet metallic pillow-plate absorber (107) formed by spot-welding two thin metallic sheets along a predefined pattern and subsequently hydraulically inflating the unwelded areas to create a continuous network of pillow-shaped internal flow channels (116) directly beneath the solar-exposed upper sheet. The pillow-plate absorber (107) may be single embossed with a flat upper sheet for constant solar absorption and an embossed lower sheet for increased heat transfer area, used in both separate solar water heater and solar dryer systems. The pillow-plate absorber (107) simultaneously serves as the solar radiation absorbing surface and the sole internal flow passage for the working fluid (air or water)."
