MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311081650 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 1, 2023, for 'a system and a method for alcohol detection in a vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention related to an alcohol detection system (100) in a vehicle and a method (200) for alcohol detection in a vehicle. The system (100) comprises a memory (102), a processor (104), a communication module (106), and a base module (110) communicatively coupled to the processor (104). The base module (110) further comprises an alcohol detection module (112), and an alert module (114). The alert module (114) is configured to generate an alert signal with the vehicle location. If the pre-determined threshold value stored in the memory (102) is crossed by a user, then a notification based on the alert signal is sent to a family member device (116). The family member device (116) is configured to receive the notification to take immediate and appropriate action by executing one or more instructions by the processor (104), via the communication module (106) to prevent the user from operating the vehicle."
