According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a system and method for the early detection of pre-diabetes utilizing a dual-metabolite colorimetric diagnostic platform. The system uses one sensing card with separate detection zones that are set up to selectively detect tryptophan and kynurenine from a biological sample using colorimetry. A processor is set up to look at colorimetric responses that are specific to metabolites, keep track of the speed of reactions over time, figure out the kynurenine-to-tryptophan metabolic ratio, and guess the functional metabolic flux that goes along with the tryptophan-kynurenine pathway. The system also uses environmental compensation and physiological normalization to make the diagnosis more accurate and reliable in a wider range of situations. Based on the processed metabolic parameters, the system creates a pre-diabetes risk classification that shows early metabolic dysregulation before a glycemic abnormality can be seen. The system and method that are described offer a non-invasive, affordable, and pathway-informed diagnostic solution that can be used at the point of care, overcoming the problems with traditional glucose-centric diagnostic methods."
