MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611025859 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 5, for 'a system and method for adaptive hydro-responsive road median flood control.'
Inventor(s) include Aanchal Sharma; Daud Chauhan; Ibran Khan; and Soni Dubey.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system and method for adaptive hydro-responsive roadway flood mitigation using a modular road median incorporating dynamic surface reprofiling and debris-resilient telescopic drainage architecture. The system comprises a structural median body integrated with water-level sensing modules, a staged telescopic drainage tunnel assembly, a dynamic camber-adjusting mechanism, a debris-separating vortex intake chamber, and a hybrid actuation system. Upon detection of predefined hydrostatic thresholds, the system automatically deploys nested telescopic drainage channels and temporarily modifies roadway slope to direct accumulated water toward roadside drainage infrastructure."
