MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126338 A) filed by UPES, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 13, 2025, for 'a system and method for an ai-enabled ergonomic study chair.'
Inventor(s) include Anchita Sharma; and Dr. Ayush Kumar Agrawal.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an ergonomic study chair integrating a sensor network (10) with multimodal sensors, a sensor interface (20) for signal digitization and sliding-window buffering, and an on-board AI processing unit (30) executing machine learning algorithms to assess user posture and fatigue. A cascaded actuator control module (40) with dual-loop control adjusts seating components based on AI-generated parameters, while a safety supervisory module (50) monitors critical actuator metrics. A thermal regulation subsystem, combining passive phase change materials and active resistive heating via conductive textiles, maintains target temperatures. Further, a kinetic energy harvesting module (60) recovers energy from user motion, and an IoT connectivity module (70) enables bidirectional communication for remote monitoring and control."
