MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641051638 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on April 23, for 'a system and method for semantic code impact analysis using datalog inference.'

Inventor(s) include R. Sujatha; Hasban Pranav Bapu; and Aarnav Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system (100) for semantic code impact analysis using declarative logic-based inference. The system (100) comprises a polyglot source repository module (102) configured to receive source code, a parsing and transformation module (104) configured to generate structural and semantic representations, a change injection module (106) configured to receive a code modification, and a Datalog lifting engine (108) configured to convert representations into semantic facts and generate inference rules. An impact resolution engine (110) is configured to identify dependencies and determine propagation across program elements. A semantic impact graph generator (112) generates a structured representation of impacted elements, and an impact visualization module (114) enables representation of analysis results. The system provides deterministic evaluation of relationships across program elements using a logic-based framework."
