MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541022042 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka, on March 11, 2025, for 'a system for a hybrid additive manufacturing process.'
Inventor(s) include Arun Kumar Sivakumar; and Manish Arora.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) for a hybrid additive manufacturing process is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a tool head (4) selectively displaceable in cartesian coordinates and relative to a work platform (8). The tool head (4) is structured to accommodate at least one of a material deposition unit configured to selectively deposit layers of a non-conductive material and a conductive material and a beam generator (5) configured to impinge an energy beam on a layer of the conductive material to melt particles of the conductive material. The control unit (10) is communicatively coupled to the tool head (4). The control unit (10) is configured to receive an input from an external medium (12) and selectively operate the material deposition unit and the beam generator (5) based on the input to dispense the layers of non-conductive material and the conductive material and direct the energy beam on the layer of conductive material."
