MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088348 A) filed by Hero Motocorp Limited, New Delhi, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'a system for configuring switches in an automobile and method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides technique for configuring a plurality of switches in an automobile based on the user input. It recites a technique where the user may long press the first switch for a first pre-defined time period, after which if the corresponding first input is received successfully then the ECU may enter into the configuration mode. Subsequently, the user may provide second input by long pressing the second switch for the second pre-defined time period. The ECU may be configured to swap the functionalities of the two switches if the attempt is successful and indicate unsuccessful swapping on the display device in case of any error. The recited technique enables the end user to modify the functionalities performed by the given switches and facilitate easy adaptation without requiring any elaborative process, ensuring easy and comfortable driving experience for the user, and preventing road accidents."
