MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341080535 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Nov. 28, 2023, for 'a system for deicing a peripheral component of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Megha Naveen; and Tanveer Ashiq.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) for deicing a peripheral component (720), flushed with a body of a vehicle (700) is disclosed. The system comprises a sensor (150), a tank (200), a plurality of nozzles (600) and a control unit (400). The sensor (150) is configured to detect ice formation around the at least one peripheral component (720) of the vehicle. The tank contains a deicing fluid. The plurality of nozzles is provisioned in a body frame of the vehicle, proximal to the peripheral component. The plurality of nozzles is fluidically connected to the tank and is configured to direct the deicing fluid onto the peripheral component. The control unit is communicatively coupled and supplies the deicing fluid to the plurality of nozzles based on signals received from the sensor. The system provides deicing of the peripheral component to overcome jamming, and freezing of the peripheral component in colder climatic conditions."
