MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321082820 A) filed by Tata Motors Limited, Maharashtra, on Dec. 5, 2023, for 'a system for varying stiffness of an anti-roll bar.'

Inventor(s) include Pranav A K; Rupesh Tembhare; and Manasi Mone.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Present disclosure discloses a system (100) for varying stiffness of an anti-roll bar (10) in a suspension system of a vehicle. The anti-roll bar is defined with a hollow tube. The system includes a sleeve (2) disposed on at least a portion of the hollow tube (1) wherein the sleeve receives a magnetorheological fluid (4). The system further includes an encoder (6) disposed on the hollow tube and located proximal to the sleeve. Furthermore, the system includes a control unit (200) communicatively connected to the encoder. The control unit is configured to receive a signal based on the deflection of anti-roll bar from the encoder and energize the magnetorheological fluid by supplying current to alter viscosity of magnetorheological fluid. The system is capable of varying the stiffness of the anti-roll bar dynamically based on deflection in anti-roll bar during the events of cornering/turning/banking and high pitching movements of the vehicle."
