MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541021132 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 8, 2025, for 'a targeted drug delivery system and a process for its preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a targeted drug delivery system comprising Axitinib-loaded micelles formed using a surfactant and a co-surfactant, and a hyaluronic acid coating deposited on the micelles to obtain a targeted and stabilized formulation. The disclosure further relates to a method for preparing the drug delivery system, which includes dissolving the surfactant and co-surfactant in an aqueous medium, incorporating Axitinib under controlled mixing and sonication conditions to form drug-loaded micelles, and subsequently coating the micelles with hyaluronic acid. The system provides high entrapment efficiency, enhanced formulation stability, and controlled drug release, while the method is simple, reproducible, and suitable for large-scale fabrication."
