MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321085572 A) filed by Kanad Innovations Private Limited, Nashik, Maharashtra, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'a torque generating apparatus with an emergency cut-off mechanism.'
Inventor(s) include Priyanka S Sangale.
The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present subject matter relates to a torque generating apparatus (100) comprises a housing (102) to enclose a high torque motor, gear train, and attached drill bit shaft (104). It incorporates an emergency shut off mechanism to halt uncontrolled rotational speed. A primary power switch (106) mounted on the housing uses a pivoted interior lever that toggles on/off contacts of a switch (212). An exterior switch lever extension arm has a load weight added to its end. During normal operation, the pivoted lever is toggled to hold contacts closed, powering up the torque generator. However, when housing rotational velocity rises uncontrollably, centrifugal forces acting on the switch arm load creates torque that pulls the extended lever away from rotation axis."
