MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411074681 A) filed by Sukhdeep Singh Rana, New Delhi, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'a torrefaction device ensuring continuous process.'

Inventor(s) include Sukhdeep Singh Rana.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments of the present invention provide a device for torrefaction of a raw material, 5 10 such as a biomass. The device includes a rotating cylinder with a number of baffles and stiffener to rotate and stir the raw material, performing torrefaction in partially oxidative atmosphere. The torrefaction process takes part inside the long multiple reactors of a rotary drum, that the timing of the material to be fed is not particularly dependent on the timing or instances of outputting of torrefied material, because some of the reactors may torrefy the material (e.g., 6 out of 8), while some of the last reactors may cool down the torrefied material (e.g., 2 out of 8), ensuring continuous process."
