MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421011541 A) filed by G. H. Raisoni College Of Engineering; and G. H. R. Labs And Research Centre, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'a traffic safety system.'
Inventor(s) include Jumle, Pranjali M; and Rathore, Sagar Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a traffic safety system. The SafeRide system is an innovative solution leveraging computer vision technology to enhance transportation safety. It employs high-resolution cameras and advanced to monitor traffic intersections in real-time. By detecting potential threats and identifying bikers without helmets, the system aims to prevent accidents and promote responsible biking behavior. The object detection model, trained using deep learning frameworks, accurately identifies bikers amidst complex traffic environments. A specialized helmet detection further enhances safety by identifying non-compliant bikers. Visual alerts are generated on nearby screens, emphasizing non-compliant bikers' heads with a distinct red box. Additionally, an awareness campaign collaboratively executed with local authorities aims to educate the public about the system's operation and the importance of helmet usage in road safety. The SafeRide system represents a proactive approach to road safety, fostering a culture of responsible biking practices and contributing to improved road safety standards."
