MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431004992 A) filed by Shamayita Patra; and Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Viswavidyalaya, Howrah, West Bengal, on Jan. 24, 2024, for 'aaritha based single ingredient single-step scouring (asiss) process of cotton.'
Inventor(s) include Shamayita Patra; Akshita Carpenter; and Priyanshu Chaudhary.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed invention is about a renewable natural scouring agent aaritha based SISS (ASISS) scouring process to obtain absorbent cotton fibrous nonwonen/ mesh for hygiene product synthesis. The proposed method has yielded an absorbent fibrous sheet which can provide an absorbing layer. This fibrous layer can be the base material for low-cost hygiene management products ex. sanitary napkins, child and adult diapers etc. Also in extended scope, Cotton fabric is scoured with ASISS Scouring method and converted into better improved moisture absorbent one."
