MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022371 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 22, 2024, for 'adaptable book reading assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable book reading assistive device, comprises of a V-shaped body 1 developed to be positioned over top edge of an open book, motorized clamping unit 2 is attached on each end of the body 1 for gripping the top edge of the book, artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 installed on the frame for capturing multiple images of surroundings, a LDR (light dependent resistor) sensor integrated on the body 1 for monitoring intensity of light in vicinity to the body 1, a microphone 5 positioned on the frame for receiving voice command of the user, an OCR (Optical Character Recognition module) integrated within the body 1 for determining page number of the book."
