MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023556 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 25, 2024, for 'adaptable footwear maintenance assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Gaurav Bhardwaj; and Dr. Neha Pathak.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable footwear maintenance assistive device, comprising a platform 1 developed positioned on a fixed surface, plurality of suction cups 2 to adhere platform 1 with the surface, an expandable slot 3 enables a user to accommodate a pair of footwear on slot 3, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 determines dimensions of footwear, a dust sensor detects deposition of dust on sole of footwear, multiple motorized rotatable brushes 5 provide a scrubbing motion on sole for removing deposited dust from sole, a motorized roller 7 coiled with multiple bristles is integrated on each slider by means of a telescopically operated link 8 for positioning roller 7 in proximity to ankle of boot, an expandable U-shaped member 9 arranged on platform 1 by means of robotic link 10 for positioning member 9 in shaft of footwear, an electromagnetic spring 11 integrated in between member 9 for providing support to footwear."
