MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025518 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'adaptable socks wearing assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ranjan Sariyal; Dr. Shweta Lamba; Mandeep; Sunny Kumar; and Suryansh.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable socks wearing assistive device comprises a platform 1 configured with plurality of suction cups 2 to adhere the platform 1 on a ground surface, an ultrasonic sensor determines presence of a sock in proximity to the platform 1, a pair of telescopically operated links 3 integrated on the platform 1 positions a motorized clamps 4 to grab ends of the sock, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 determines dimensions of the socks, a pair of robotic arms 6 arranged on the platform 1 for gripping ends of mouth portion of the sock for arranging the sock on a curved plate 7, an angle sensor embedded on the platform 1 for determining inclination of the user's foot with respect to the curved plate 7, and a motorized hinge joint 8 to provide converging/diverging movement to the curved plate 7 for tilting the plate 7."
