MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019417 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 15, 2024, for 'adaptable washing machine door opening/closing assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Arun Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable washing machine door opening/closing assistive device, comprises a plate 1 developed to be positioned on body of a washing machine configured with a suction cup 2 for adhering the plate 1, an elongated flexible member 3 arranged on the plate 1 and integrated with a pushing unit 4 for acquiring a grip on the door, a microphone 5 is integrated on the plate 1 for receiving voice commands of a user, an electromagnetically powered spring 6 embedded within the member 3 for applying a pushing/pulling force, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 7 installed on the plate 1 to determine distance in between the door and body, an IR (infrared) sensor integrated on the plate 1 for monitoring presence of clothes, and a speaker 8 integrated on the plate 1 to produce audio alert."
