MUMBAI, India, Jan. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311044554 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on July 3, 2023, for 'adaptive side strips with rain gutter in a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Amey Deshmukh.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 10, under issue no. 02/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A windshield assembly for a vehicle 100 includes a windshield frame with a windshield 104, and a pair of strips 200 fixed between a pair of rain gutters 202 and a respective lateral ends of the windshield 104. The strips 200 includes a plurality of protrusions 204 arranged in a staggered manner with a gap therebetween to form a plurality of criss-cross channels 206, such that momentum of water forced from the windshield 104 towards the respective rain gutter 202 is reduced, thereby preventing overflow of water from the rain gutter 202 to a side window 106. The strips 200 are made of a plastic and pasted on the windshield frame with a part of the strips 200 being inside the rain gutter 202. The plurality of protrusion 204 are pyramid-shaped with a diamond shaped base."
