MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026070 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'adjustable book marking device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Stuti; Dr. Mamta Sharma; Aman Thakur; and Muskan Joshi.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable book marking device, comprising a U-shaped frame 1 installed on side of a book and installed with an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 to determine thickness of book, a drawer arrangement for establishing a plate over fore edge of book, a microphone 3 receives voice command of user regarding opening of book, multiple electromagnets 4 to segregate plate for opening book, in case, two motorized grippers 5 get extended for positioning a suction unit integrated on grippers 5 over a fixed surface for providing a support to open book on surface to orient book at a required angle, further electromagnets 4 get adhered segregated portions of plate for closing book, and plurality of flaps 6 installed via a motorized sliding unit 7 to translate flaps 6 in a required direction for establishing a bookmark for user while closing of book."
