MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019276 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 15, 2024, for 'adjustable clogging prevention device for wash basin.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Bed Prakash; and Bhawna Saraswat.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable clogging prevention device for wash basin, comprising a hemi-spherical flap 1 positioned on outlet of wash basin by means of two suction cups 2, an ultrasonic sensor detects placement of flap 1, a telescopic rod 3 suspended from extends out of drain outlet, a moisture sensor detects presence of water inside wash basin, four primary telescopic links 4 extends away from rod 3 and a motorized sliding unit 5 provides rotational motion to links 4 for generating swirl in water flowing through outlet, there U-shaped meshed plates 6 arranged on rod 3 for separating debris from water, an electromagnetic patch attracts metallic objects and hairs, a weight sensor installed on plates 6 for detecting amount of debris collected on plates 6, a telescopic pusher 7 arranged on plates 6 which extends to translate collected debris from plates 6 to a chamber 8 attached with plates 6."
