MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025006 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on March 27, 2024, for 'advanced zinc alloy coating and a process there of.'

Inventor(s) include Walunj Mahesh Gulab; and Himangshu Bapari.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a hot dip Zn-Co-Mn-Ti functional coating composed of mainly three layers on substrate of steel surface having excellent scratch resistance, corrosion resistance, super hydrophobicity along with colorized surface appearance of different types of shades. Microstructural evolution of the constituent phases in the hot dip zinc alloy coating is mainly attributed to the composition of hot dip bath containing of major alloying components Zn-Co-Mn-Ti along with minor alloying components, preferentially at least one or combination of Sr, Mg, Al, Cr. The transparent secondary coating of nano-hybrid polyurethane or epoxy resin-based applied on the colorized surface of hot-dip Zn-Co-Mn-Ti alloy coating by dipping, spraying or brushing method in order to make the corrosion resistance and super-hydrophobic surface along with its the prolong colour stability to fading in both indoor and outdoor atmospheric exposure."
