MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104168 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'ai-based intelligent waste detection and management system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a system for real-time monitoring, reporting, and management of waste in public and community spaces. The system (100) includes a Garbage Detection Module (102), Authority Notification Server (104), AI Decision Engine (106), Cleanup Verification Module (108), and optional Smart Monitoring Nodes (110). Waste is detected using AI-based image analysis, classified, and reported to municipal authorities in real-time. Citizens can submit reports and track cleanup progress. The system ensures secure, tamper-resistant, and predictive waste management, optimizing municipal resource allocation, enhancing urban cleanliness, and promoting active citizen participation for healthier, sustainable cities."
