MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511125057 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'ai-controlled mobile-enabled washing machine with fabric recognition and wash optimization.'
Inventor(s) include Anu Kapoor.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an AI-controlled, mobile-enabled washing machine capable of automatically identifying fabric characteristics and optimizing washing parameters for improved efficiency and fabric care. The system integrates an optical image capture module, an AI-based fabric recognition module, a wash parameter optimization unit, a mobile application interface, and a machine feedback and monitoring system. Images of the loaded fabrics are analyzed using advanced image processing and neural network algorithms to determine fabric type, texture, color density, and soiling level. Based on this analysis, the washing machine autonomously adjusts water temperature, detergent quantity, spin speed, and cycle duration. Real-time sensor feedback enables dynamic parameter modification to ensure optimal washing performance. Cloud connectivity facilitates data storage, continuous learning, and model updates. The invention provides a fully automated, intelligent, energy-efficient, and user-friendly laundry solution enabling enhanced fabric protection and improved washing outcomes."
