MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611025172 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 3, for 'ai-designed schiff base-metal chelate hybrid compounds and methods thereof for dual anticonvulsant and neuroprotective treatment of epilepsy-associated neurodegeneration.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nidhi Dhama; and Dr. Aadesh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses novel artificial intelligence (AI)-designed Schiff base-metal chelate hybrid compounds and pharmaceutical compositions thereof for the management of epilepsy-associated neurodegeneration. The compounds comprise Schiff base ligands complexed with biocompatible metal ions selected from zinc, copper, or magnesium, wherein the hybrids are rationally optimized using AI-assisted molecular modeling, docking, QSAR, and ADMET prediction techniques to achieve enhanced central nervous system compatibility. The disclosed compounds exhibit dual anticonvulsant and neuroprotective activity by simultaneously modulating oxidative stress, suppressing neuroinflammatory pathways, and stabilizing neurotransmitter imbalance associated with recurrent epileptic seizures. The invention further provides methods for designing, synthesizing, formulating, and administering the Schiff base-metal chelate hybrids to reduce seizure frequency and prevent progressive neuronal damage, including in drug-resistant epilepsy."
