Inventor(s) include Karthi Nallasivam; Mr. P. Kalaiselvi; Mr. M. Anand; Mr. M. Michael Jones; Ms. J. Swathi; Mr. P. Balaji; Mr. R. Sambasivam; Mr. S. Ragul Kannan; Mr. S. Surendran; and Mr. R. Amarnath Jegan.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed system consists of a mechanical climbing robot designed to move vertically along coconut trees using a three-wheel drive mechanism powered by high-torque motors. A spring-loaded gripping structure ensures stable contact and prevents slipping during operation. The robot is controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller using Bluetooth connectivity, enabling user control through a mobile application. A Raspberry Pi integrated with a camera module performs real-time image processing to distinguish between mature and tender coconuts. Based on the detection, a motor-driven cutting mechanism is activated to harvest the selected coconuts. The overall system combines mechanical design, embedded control, and artificial intelligence to achieve safe and efficient automated coconut harvesting."
