MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025477 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 4, for 'ai-powered shoulder support system for preventing recurrent anterior dislocation in athletes and patients.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. V. Subbulakshmi; Ashwinkumar C S; and Arun Kumar M.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered shoulder support system for preventing recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation in athletes and patients. The system comprises a wearable brace-like harness configured for positioning around the shoulder and upper torso and incorporating adjustable smart straps for adaptive resistance. Inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors and muscle activity sensors including surface electromyography (sEMG) electrodes continuously acquire shoulder kinematic and neuromuscular data. An onboard or paired AI processing module performs real-time signal conditioning, data fusion, individualized risk assessment, and predictive detection of high-risk dislocation postures. A feedback and intervention module comprising graded haptic actuators, adaptive strap tensioning mechanisms, and neuromuscular stimulation circuitry is selectively activated prior to entry into a dislocation-prone configuration. The system operates in a closed-loop manner with adaptive learning to provide proactive stabilization while maintaining functional mobility."
