MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621008761 A) filed by Proheartz Electic Llp, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 28, for 'air-driven vehicle propulsion unit & method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Arun Ramkrishna Limaye.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a compressed-air powered propulsion unit for vehicles, characterised by a flywheel body (101) having an internal annular cavity on one axial side within which a centrifugal impeller (102) is fully encapsulated and rigidly fixed, forming a single rigid rotating body. Compressed air from an on-board storage tank (109) is supplied through a stationary central hollow pipe (107) extending coaxially through the flywheel hub and opening directly into the impeller eye (106). The impeller comprises curved fins (103) that accelerate the air centrifugally, discharging it at high velocity through converging nozzle passages (104) formed at the periphery between the curved fins and cooperating straight boundary edges, oriented for tangential expulsion. The reaction thrust generated by this tangential discharge directly imparts torque to the combined impeller-flywheel assembly without any separate air motor, expander, turbine rotor or torque converter. The opposite axial side of the flywheel carries a conventional clutch interface (111, 115, 112, 113) that directly drives the standard gearbox input shaft (114), enabling drop-in replacement of an internal combustion engine."
