MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431006397 A) filed by Jamipol Limited, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'aluminium based desulphurization reagent, process of preparation and applications thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Repaka Lakshmi Praharsha; and Sambhunath Chakraborty.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure generally relates to the field of metallurgy and is particularly 5 relevant to the process of steel making. Particularly, the present disclosure relates to partially or fully replacing the deoxidation capacity and hazardous effect of magnesium with aluminium. Consequently, the present disclosure provides a desulphurization reagent that reduces or replaces the need for employing magnesium along with conventional lime-based desulphurization reagents. The disclosure also relates to the 10 process of preparing the desulphurization reagent or composition and its application in desulphurization of hot metal which is used steel making processes."
