MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421005631 A) filed by Hindalco Industries Limited; Aditya Birla Science And Technology Company Pvt. Ltd.; and Phinergy Inc., Maharashtra, on Jan. 29, 2024, for 'aluminum alloy anode and the process of preparing the same.'

Inventor(s) include Saikat Adhikari; Shreyas Khot; Sumit Gahlyan; Adam Weismann; Ilya Yakupov; and Gautam Wagle.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an aluminum alloy composition designed to enhance corrosion resistance and performance, particularly in energy storage applications such as aluminum-air batteries. The composition comprises the following elements: 0.005 to 0.1 wt.% silicon, 0.005 to 0.1 wt.% iron, 0 to 0.1 wt.% manganese, 0.5 to 6.0 wt.% magnesium, 0 to 0.1 wt.% copper, 0 to 0.1 wt.% zinc, 0 to 0.1 wt.% chromium, 0 to 0.1 wt.% titanium, and up to 0.05 wt.% others, with the balance being aluminum. An anode based on aluminum alloy offers improved corrosion resistance, enhanced energy utilization, and high performance, making it well-suited for energy storage applications such as aluminum-air batteries."
