MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517057829 A) filed by Mas Innovation (PRIVATE) Limited, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, on June 16, for 'an absorbent pad for a garment and a garment comprising the absorbent pad.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure generally relates to an absorbent pad (100) for use in a garment (200) and a garment (200) comprising the absorbent pad (100). The absorbent pad (100) comprises: a liquid impermeable barrier layer (120); a functional assembly (110) attached to the barrier layer (120); and a peripheral assembly (130) attached to a periphery of the functional assembly (110), at least part of the peripheral assembly (130) being liquid impermeable. The functional assembly (110) comprises: an absorbent layer (112) attached to the barrier layer (120), the absorbent layer (112) for absorbing liquid; and a wicking layer (114) attached to the absorbent layer (112), the wicking layer (114) arranged to face towards a skin of a user when in use, the wicking layer (114) for transferring liquid to the absorbent layer (112). The wicking layer (114) and the absorbent layer (112) are attached at a plurality of discrete points (116) between them to facilitate liquid transfer from the wicking layer (114) to the absorbent layer (112) via areas around the discrete points (116)."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 10, 2023, under International application No.PCT/SG2023/050747.
