MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511078648 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana, on Aug. 19, for 'an apparatus for joining two workpieces.'

Inventor(s) include Kumar, Ramesh; Kishore, Kamal; Rajak, Ashish Kumar; and Sinha, Manoj Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an apparatus (100) for joining two workpieces (106, 108). The apparatus (100) includes a field shaper (102), a coil (104), and a crimping zone (110). The coil (104) is wound around on the periphery of the field shaper (102). The crimping zone (110) is formed at the center of the field shaper (102), and adapted to position the two workpieces (106, 108). The field shaper (102) includes an outer surface (102a) and an inner surface (102b). The outer surface (102a) is positioned inside the coil (104). The inner surface (102b) is positioned opposite to the outer surface (102a) and between the two workpieces (106, 108) and the coil (104), such a portion of one side of the field shaper (102) having a stepped profile (112) and a tapered profile (114) at another side."
