MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086058 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'an armrest of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Thasma Kannan Nikhil Vyas; and Rohan Bhosale.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An armrest assembly (100) provides a wider support space for the resting forearm of a passenger. The armrest assembly (100) includes an elongated support structure (102) that extends along a longitudinal axis of the armrest assembly (100) and a pivot mechanism (104) provided with the support structure (102) and defining a pivot axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the armrest assembly (100). Further, a resting pad (106) is pivotally coupled with the support structure (102) through the pivot mechanism (104) for rotation about the pivot axis between a folded position and an in-use position. When the resting pad is in the folded position that takes a vertical orientation and rests against a vertical side of the support structure (102), and when the resting pad (106) is in the in-use position that rotates to a horizontal orientation to provide a wider surface for supporting an occupant's arm."
