MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087381 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'an arrangement for monitoring and determining freshness of eggs in a refrigerator.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An arrangement (102) for monitoring and determining freshness of eggs a refrigerator (100) is provided. The arrangement (102) includes an egg tray (112) having an egg receiving tray (108) that includes a plurality of egg receiving portions (112) and a smart base tray (110) provided below the egg receiving tray (108). The smart base tray (110) includes an emitting module (202), a receiving module (204) a detection module (206), and a control unit (210) for emitting, receiving and detection of the amount of infrared radiation absorbed by the egg. The detection module (206) detects the amount of infrared radiation emitted by the emitting module (202), received by the receiving module (204), and absorbed by the eggs, and based on the amount of infrared radiation absorbed by the eggs estimates the amount of CO2 present inside the eggs and detects the age and freshness of the eggs."
